IPL Hair Reduction

Ever wanted to be hair free? Treating unwanted hair is safe and effective with long lasting results. With amazing Advances in light-based technology  IPL hair reduction offers a long-term solution to unwanted or excess hair for both men and women and is suitable for most areas of the face and body.

How It Works

The Intense Pulsed Light system releases precisely controlled strong pulses of light that are absorbed by melanin, the pigment in hair. The absorbed light heats the hair, which damages or destroys the re-growth potential of the follicle, all without damaging the surrounding tissue.

A course of  IPL treatments is usually required at 4 – 8 weekly intervals to follow the hair growth cycle, treatments will leave your skin feeling smooth and soft and the results can be life changing. You could be free from shaving, waxing, ingrown hairs and shaving rashes. Treatments will vary from person to person.

How the treatment will feel

Each pulse of light feels like a slight sting or pinch, similar to the snap of a rubber band. No local anesthesia is required and most people tolerate the treatment well.

Can all hair be treated

IPL’s unique design offers you customised treatment according to your hair colour, texture and the location of body hair. Any hair with at least some pigment in it (black, brown, red and even blond) can be treated effectively.

Is ipl safe for all skin types

IPL is the first photoepilation procedure proven to effectively treat unwanted hair on all skin types, including dark-skinned individuals such as those of Black, Hispanic and Asian descent.

How do I prepare for a skin Patch test?

You must have hair in the area that is to be treated; this is how we can assess your hair colour, thickness and growth. You cannot use any other form of hair removal other than shaving for at least 8 weeks prior to your skin patch test. Your skin has to be in good condition, ie, not dry or irritated. Your skin can not be tanned.

Are there any possible side effects from ipl?

Side effects are rare. You may experience some slight reddening or local swelling at the treatment site, but this typically goes away within hours. On rare occasions, some blistering or bruising may occur, but typically resolves quickly.

The skin can become darker or lighter following IPL treatment, but will generally return to normal within a few weeks. Limiting sun exposure before and after each treatment will minimize the risk of complications. Following the treatment, you can generally return to work and resume all regular activities as normal.

How Should I prepare for an IPL treatment?

Hairs in the area to be treated should be 1 to 2 mm long. The treated area is shaved prior to treatment to maximize the transmission of the IPL energy. Long hairs absorb the light and can prevent penetration of the follicle. If you normally shave the area to be treated, you can continue to shave up to the day of treatment. You must not pluck, wax or bleach the area. Avoid epilation and waxing 4 weeks prior to your treatment. This ensures as many follicles as possible contain a hair, which can be destroyed by the light. Tanning should also be avoided 1 month prior to treatment and during the entire treatment process. After the course you should avoid strong sun light for 4-5 days as the treated skin is particularly sensitive to UV and sun light. On the day of the treatment avoid use of deodorants, perfumed products or aromatherapy oils. A patch test will be carried out at least 48 hours before the time of treatment.

A full consultation, skin assessment and patch test is required, a fee of £10 will be charged for this.

Most are harmless, but all are visible on the complexion and may make you feel unattractive. Generally this freckling and age spots pose no health risk, however they can have an impact on how you feel about yourself making you conscious as it leaves a patchy, less youthful appearance. Facial Thread Veins, Spider Veins, Rosacea and Vascular Lesions

Facial thread veins or broken red veins (telangiectasia) are small, unsightly superficial red, purple or blue veins that occur around the nose and across the cheeks and chin. Although facial veins/spider veins are quite common, they can cause distress and embarrassment. Facial veins may be hereditary or as a result of damage from exposure to the sun, wind or extremes of temperature but often the exact cause is unknown and may just be part of the natural ageing process, or as a part of a skin condition called rosacea. We can remove unwanted red veins and broken capillaries on your face, neck and décolleté, legs. The laser light targets the vessels to eliminate the unwanted redness leaving the skin clear, bright and of even tone.
